The airport is named in memory of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. It is equipped with four runways and six main passenger terminals. It first opened in July 1, 1948. It’s the hub for American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Atlas Air, Kalitta Air, Polar Air Cargo, and is a focus city for JetBlue Airways & Norwegian Long Haul.
