The airport is a tourist attraction because it serves as a venue for the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) which is an international aerospace event for aviation industry and aero performances for the public. It is equipped with one runway and one main passenger terminal. It first opened in December 1993. It’s the hub for AirAsia.
